Anyone can learn to swim but at Shoalhaven Swim Schools, our Swim & Survive Program can get you started early!
Swimming can be a fun activity to share with your children, but the importance of water safety and confident swimming skills can't be stressed enough.
Designed to keep children actively learning and more importantly having fun, Swim & Survive provides children with a pathway for ongoing learning and development in the skills of water safety and swimming through each of their key life stages.
Each section of the program is structured into skill strands that ensure a balanced, comprehensive instructional approach to your child's aquatic education.
All our Swim & Survive instructors hold an AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety™ qualification and undergo regular training and in-services.
Swim & Survive offers aquatic programs in three levels:
Wonder (6-36 months) Our infant aquatic program has a focus on water familiarisation and is taught with parent & child together in the water.
Courage (3-5 years) Our preschool program has a focus on water confidence.
Active (5-14 years) Our school-aged program has a focus on swimming and water safety.
If your child has a special need, speak to the Aquatics Education Coordinator who will be happy to assess and work out the best class for your child.
A complimentary assessment may be offered by appointment to all new enrolments or returning students following a lapse of 12 months or to ensure correct level placement in accordance with skill.
Students enrolled in our Swim School program, Learn to Swim & Survive or Squad sessions, also receive FREE casual swim entry, from the time of enrolment, for the duration of the program to encourage practice between lessons.
If you would like to enrol your child in private swimming lessons contact the Aquatics Education Coordinator at your nearest Shoalhaven Swim & Fitness Centre.
We offer squad programs for those keen and/or elite students wanting to progress their swimming ability with a focus on stroke correction, endurance, developing speed and training techniques for all four competitive strokes. Coaches hold either specialist qualifications in AUSTSWIM Teacher of Competitive Strokes or hold ASCTA Coaching Licences. Our coaches carefully plan to manage the swimmers' skill development in stroke and competition, as well as their physical fitness in the areas of intensity, speed and endurance.
Squads are also offered for adults in the form of Fitswim, or Squad sessions, whether you are interested in general lap swimming, triathlons or competitive swimming, we have something to suit; speak to the Aquatics Education Coordinator to find out what will suit your requirements for improving your swimming skill, speed and fitness.
